Advancing education and raising awareness of mental health issues
Our amazing team of Trustees have known Nick for many years working with him or trading with him in his role as a market leading Political risks and Credit Underwriter. Our Trustees are drawn from the many disciplines spanning the London insurance market.
Tragically Nick Kilhams died from suicide early one Saturday morning in May 2021. This was his second attempt in under 4 weeks. His family and friends knew nothing of the struggle he had wrestled with for many years prior, and while, once we knew, we tried to move as quickly as we could to get the support he so desperately needed, we were too late.
Our wish is that Nick’s memory and legacy continues to be kept alive in the market place that he loved so dearly. We fear others in the industry may be struggling to deal with their inner thoughts and mental health issues and that the market often may help cloak the issues. We hope by bringing Nick’s story to the fore that others will be
Our wish is that Nick’s memory and legacy continues to be kept alive in the market place that he loved so dearly. We fear others in the industry may be struggling to deal with their inner thoughts and mental health issues and that the market often may help cloak the issues. We hope by bringing Nick’s story to the fore that others will be brave enough to share and talk openly if they need help.
It is clear Nick was loved, liked and respected by so many, and yet no one knew of his mental anguish and daily struggles. We sincerely hope the NKF can help shine a light on these issues and keep Nick’s memory alive so that we can help others before tragedy happens.
